The cost of tiling the floor of a rectangular room = Rs. 9100 at Rs. 65 m²

The ratio of the length and breadth of rectangle = 7 : 5

Formula used:

Area of the floor of a rectangular room = Total cost/cost per square metre

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

Calculation:

Let the length and breadth of a rectangle be 7x and 5x respectively.

According to the question

Area of the floor of a rectangular room = Total cost/cost per square metre

⇒ (9100/65) m²

⇒ 140 m²

Area of rectangle roomed floor= (7x × 5x)

⇒ 35x² = 140

⇒ x² = (140/35)

⇒ x² = 4

⇒ x = 2

Perimeter of rectangle roomed floor = 2(l + b)

⇒ 2(7 × 2 + 5 × 2)

⇒ 2(14 + 10)

⇒ 2 × 24

⇒ 48 m

∴ The perimeter of the floor of the room is 48 m
