RRB Technician Syllabus 2025, Check Exam Pattern For CBT 1, CBT 2

The revised RRB Technician Syllabus and Exam Pattern has been released along with the Railway RRB Technician recruitment 2025 notification announcing 6238 vacancies for Technician Grade 1 Signal and Technician Grade 3 posts. The recruitment process includes Computer Based Tests (CBT 1 and CBT 2), followed by document verification. CBT 1 is the initial screening stage and covers subjects like Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science. It consists of 75 questions to be answered in 60 minutes. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and there is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Candidates who qualify CBT 1 move on to CBT 2. This stage is divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A has 100 questions from general subjects, and Part B includes 75 questions based on the relevant trade. The total duration of CBT 2 is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

RRB Technician Selection Process

The RRB Technician Selection Process for 2025 is slightly different from that of the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment. While both are technical posts, the Technician recruitment process follows a simpler format. Candidates applying for Technician Grade 1 Signal and Technician Grade 3 posts will have to go through three main stages to qualify for final selection. Notably, there is no Computer-Based Aptitude Test for Technician posts.

Candidates appearing for the RRB Technician Recruitment must be familiar with the exam pattern for each stage of the selection process. By knowing the candidates can understand the type of questions, topic-wise weightage and marking scheme. This will help candidates develop an effective preparation strategy to score better. RRB Technician Exam Pattern for Technician Gr I Signal

The RRB Technician CBT exam will be conducted for RRB Technician posts. There will be separate CBT for each post of Technician Grade-III & Technician Grade-I Signal. It will be an objective-type test. The detailed exam pattern for each post is given below.

  • The RRB Technician Exam 2025 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

  • The paper will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions.

  • A total of 100 questions will be asked, carrying 100 marks in total.

  • Each incorrect answer will lead to a deduction of 1/3rd of the total marks assigned to that question.

  • No negative marking will be applied for unanswered or blank questions.

  • Candidates should attempt questions carefully to avoid losing marks due to negative marking.

  • The exam will be conducted in CBT mode.

  • The paper will include objective-type multiple-choice questions.

  • For every incorrect answer, 1/3rd of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

  • Minimum qualifying marks are:

    • UR & EWS: 40%

    • OBC (NCL) & SC: 30%

    • ST: 25%

Document Verification (DV)

Candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification based on their marks and merit in the CBT for the respective Pay Levels. The Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration and final verification of all essential documents and verification of antecedents / character of the candidates.
