Question
Download Solution PDFIn a trapezoidal field PQRS, PQ || RS, PQ = 12 m, RS = 22 m, the distance between PQ and RS is 14m. Two crops are to be sown in equal areas. Find the area available for each crop.
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
In a trapezoidal field PQRS, PQ || RS
PQ = 12 m
RS = 22 m
The distance between PQ and RS = 14 m
Formula used:
Area of trapezoid = \(\dfrac{1}{2} \times (a + b) \times h\)
Where, a = PQ, b = RS, h = distance between PQ and RS
Calculation:
Area of trapezoid = \(\dfrac{1}{2} \times (12 + 22) \times 14\)
⇒ Area of trapezoid = \(\dfrac{1}{2} \times 34 \times 14\)
⇒ Area of trapezoid = 17 × 14
⇒ Area of trapezoid = 238 m2
Area for each crop = \(\dfrac{238}{2}\)
⇒ Area for each crop = 119 m2
∴ The correct answer is option 1.
