Every linear circuit having input and output can be analyzed as two-port networks.
In these networks, there are four parameters called hybrid or h-parameter.
h parameter equations:
V1 = h11I1 + h12V2
I2 = h21I1 + h22V2
From the above equations, it is clear that Hybrid parameters express V1 and I2 in terms of I1 and V2.
These parameters are known as Hybrid because they use Z parameters, Y parameters, voltage ratio and current ratio, to represent the relationship between voltage and current in a two-port network and are having mixed dimensions.
Out of these four parameters, one is measured in ohm, one in mho, and the other two are dimensionless. Since these parameters have mixed dimensions, so they are called hybrid parameters.
hi = input resistance with output shorted (Ω)
hr = Reverse voltage gain with input open (V)
hf = Forward current gain with output shorted
ho = Output conductance with input open
