Given

8 piece of banana is bought for Rs.5

And, sold at 5 pieces for Rs.8

Formula used:

Profit = SP – CP

Profit % = (Profit/CP) × 100

Calculation

CP of 8 pieces = Rs. 5 ---- (1)

SP of 5 pieces = Rs. 8 ---- (2)

Now, multiply first equation by 5, and second equation by 8

CP of 40 pieces = Rs.25

SP of 40pieces = Rs 64

Profit = Selling Price – Cost Price

⇒ Profit = 64 – 25 = Rs.39

Profit% = (profit/cost price) × 100

⇒ Profit% = (39/25) × 100 = 156%

∴ The profit percentage is 156%

CP of 8 pieces = Rs. 5

⇒ CP of 1 piece = Rs 5/8

SP of 5 pieces = Rs. 8

⇒ SP of 1 piece = Rs 8/5

Profit = SP – CP

⇒ 8/5 – 5/8 = 39/40

Profit % = (Profit/CP) × 100

⇒ {(39/40)/(5/8)} × 100

⇒ {(39 × 8)/(40 × 5)} × 100

⇒ 39 × 4 = 156%

∴ The profit percentage is 156%
