Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
A policeman chasing a thief is 0.5 km behind the thief.
The speed of thief is 80% of the speed of the policeman and policeman catches him in 12 minutes.
Concept used:
Distance = speed × time
Calculation:
Let the speed of policeman be x and thief is .8x
Relative speed is
⇒(x -.8x) ×= .2x
Distance covered in that time by the police is,
⇒ .2x × 12/60 = 0.5
⇒ x = 12.5
So speed of thief is 12.5 × 0.8 = 10km/h
∴ The correct option is 1
