The acronym MANET stands for Mobile Ad Hoc Network. It's a term that's often thrown around in tech circles, but what does it really mean?
MANET is a type of wireless network that doesn't rely on a fixed infrastructure like traditional wired networks do. Instead, it's decentralized and can operate without the need for routers or access points. This makes it incredibly flexible and adaptable. MANETs can be connected using various mediums, such as Wi-Fi, satellite, or cellular transmission, and they function as a self-organizing network of mobile routers that are connected via wireless links.
In a MANET, each device operates autonomously. They are free to move around, and as they do so, they automatically organize themselves. This means that the network's structure can change dynamically and unpredictably, which can sometimes lead to broken communication links as devices move around.
