Urea, also referred to as Carbamide or Ureophil, is a nitrogenous compound that is produced in the liver. It is chemically denoted as CH 4 N 2 O. This compound is the end product of protein metabolism in the body. It is a waste product with no physiological purpose. Urea dissolves in the blood and is expelled from the body through the kidneys in the form of urine. This organic compound is characterized by two NH 2 groups connected by a carbonyl functional group . It is water-soluble, non-toxic, colorless and odorless. Urea is widely utilized as a crucial raw material in various industries and is commonly found in fertilizers.
