About Ranji Trophy:
- The Ranji Trophy is a Domestic Class National level Cricket tournament. This is one of the oldest cricket tournaments in India which was started in 1934.
- In this tournament many of the multiple teams representing the Regional and State cricket associations. The tournament currently consists of 38 teams, with all 28 states in India and four of the nine union territories having at least one representation from their territory.
- The trophy is named after the first Indian cricketer who played international cricket Ranjit Singh Ji after that it was known as the 'Ranji Trophy'.
- The tournament is played in a round-robin and knock-out format. The winner of the inaugural edition was the Bombay cricket team and Mumbai holds the most titles record they won this trophy 41st times in their history.
- The current Ranji Trophy is held by the Saurashtra team (2019) winner.
