Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Rajiv scored 20% marks in an exam and failed by 25 marks.
If he scored 50% marks, then he gets 20 marks more than passing marks.
Formula used:
Percentage = (value/total value) × 100
Calculation:
Let the total marks be x
According to the question,
⇒ (20x/100) + 25 = (50x/100) – 20
⇒ 3x/10 = 45
⇒ x = 150
Thus, Total marks = 150
Passing marks = {(50/100) × 150} – 20
⇒ 75 – 20
⇒ 55
∴ The passing mark for the exam is 55.
