Here are the details and functions of the different foot bones:

Tarsals

The tarsals consist of 7 uniquely shaped bones:

  • Cuneiforms (three in number)
  • Talus (one)
  • Calcaneus (one)
  • Navicular bone (one)
  • Cuboid bone (one)

Metatarsals

Metatarsals are bones situated between the phalanges and tarsals. They are numbered from I to V and have a convex-dorsal shape.

  • Metatarsal I (one)
  • Metatarsal II (one)
  • Metatarsal III (one)
  • Metatarsal IV (one)
  • Metatarsal V (one)

Phalanges

The toe bones are known as Phalanges. All toes, except the big toe, have proximal, distal, and middle phalanges. The big toe only has distal and proximal phalanges.
