Learning outcomes

• Learning outcomes, intended and achieved learning outcomes are two sides of the same coin.
• A learning outcome is what a learner is expected to be able to do, know about, and/or value at the completion of a unit of study, and how well they should be expected to achieve those outcomes.
•  It includes the substance of learning and how its attainment is to be demonstrated.
• The knowledge or skills students should acquire by the end of a particular assignment, class, course, or program, and help students understand why that knowledge and those skills will be useful to them.
• It is a measurable skill, abilities, knowledge, or values that the student demonstrates as a result of completing a given unit.

Therefore, Teaching as a system will be considered most effective if the difference between intended (the objectives planned before the interactive stage of the teaching-learning process) and actually achieved outcomes (after assessing the learners) is minimum.
