Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law

The algebraic sum of the voltages in a closed loop will be always zero.

\(\sum {V_{mesh}} = 0\)

- V₄ + V₁ + V₂ + V₃ = 0

V₄ = V₁ + V₂ + V₃

Calculation:

Assuming the transistors have matched the current through each of them will be divided equally.

I₁ = I₂ = I/2

The drain voltage is:

\(- {V_{DD}} + \frac{I}{2}{R_D} + {V_{D1}} = 0\)

This structure is similar to that of the differential amplifier.

\({V_{D1}} = {V_{DD}} - \frac{I}{2}{R_D}\)
