सम और विषम फलनों के समाकलन के नियम,

यदि फलन सम या विषम है और अंतराल [-a, a] है तो हम इन नियमों को लागू कर सकते हैं:

  • जब f(x) सम है  ⇔ \(\rm\int_{-a}^{a}f(x)dx= 2 \int_{0}^{a}f(x)dx\)
  • जब f(x) विषम है ⇔ \(\rm\int_{-a}^{a}f(x)dx= 0\) 

गणना:

माना f (x) = x5 sin4 x 

f (-x) = (-x)5 sin4 (-x) = -x5 (-sin x )= -x5 sin4 x 

⇒ f(-x) = - f(x) 

तो f(x) एक विषम फलन है। 

हम जानते हैं कि, जब f(x) विषम है ⇔ \(\rm\int_{-a}^{a}f(x)dx= 0\) 

इसलिए , \(\rm \int_{-\pi/2}^{\pi/2} x^{5}\sin^{4}x dx\) = 0 .
