UKPSC Upper PCS Career Growth and Promotion

Candidates selected through the UKPSC Upper PCS Exam are appointed to various Group A and Group B gazetted posts in the Uttarakhand state government, such as Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deputy Collector, Block Development Officer, and District Commandant, among others.

Promotions in UKPSC Upper PCS services are generally seniority-cum-merit based. Officers are promoted to higher posts such as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Additional District Magistrate (ADM), and later to District Magistrate (DM) or equivalent roles, depending on their service cadre. A minimum of 5 to 7 years of service is required for the first promotion, along with fulfilling departmental criteria and clearing promotional exams or reviews, as mandated by the service rules of the respective departments.
