Bridges:
A bridge is a structure built to span a physical obstacle, such as a body of water, valley, or road, without closing the way underneath. A bridge in which the roadway or track passes between the supporting elements (as trusses, girders, or arches).
Bridges classification based on their floor position:
1). Deck Bridge: The super-structure or floor of the bridge is positioned in between the high flood level and formation level. Therefore no top bracing is required.
2). Through Bridge: The Super-structure of the bridge is completely above the formation level. In the case of through Type Bridge, flooring is supported or suspended at the bottom of the superstructure and the top chord is braced laterally.
3). Semi-Through Bridge: The Super-structure of the bridge is partly above and partly below the formation level. here are also double-deck bridges which are constructed to carry the traffic on both roadways and railways at the same time.
