The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the National Eligibility Test (NET) twice a year, in about 85 subjects. The purpose of the exam is to assess the eligibility of the candidates for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Assistant Professor posts at higher education institutes in India.  Key highlights about the UGC NET June 2025 are:

• The NET June 2025 Exam will be scheduled from 21st June 2025 to 30th June 2025.
• The exam comprises two papers - Paper 1 which is common for all candidates, while Paper 2 is a subject-specific test.
• Candidates can choose from 85 subjects from the subject list, based on the subject they have studied at the Master's level. 
• Candidates with Master’s degrees or equivalent examinations from universities/ institutions recognised by UGC with a minimum of 55% Marks applied for the Exam. 
• There is no upper age limit for the post of Assistant Professor.
• Candidates can choose to appear for the UGC NET exam for either JRF, Assistant Professor, or both posts or for Ph.D admissions.

UGC NET Registration Form 2025 for June Cycle

The UCG NET Application Process is online only. Candidates need to submit their application forms through the website, within the specified deadline only which is till 7th May 2025. The steps to be followed to apply online for the UGC NET Exam are given below.

• Go to the official UGC NET website to access the application form. Make sure to use the authentic site to avoid any fraudulent platforms. Click on the link to Register for June 2025.
• When you click on the registration link, you will be redirected to the next page. Click on 'New Candidate Register Here'. Read the instructions and proceed.
• On the next page, enter your Aadhar/ PAN details to generate the OTP. Then enter the required details and register yourself. You will be provided the Registration Number and Password.
• Use the login credentials (registration number and password) created during registration to access the application form. Fill out all the necessary personal, educational, and contact details as required and complete the NET Application Form.
• Upload your recent passport-size photograph and signature in the required format. Ensure that both the photo and signature meet the specified size and resolution guidelines.
• After filling out the form, proceed to pay the application fee using available online payment options like debit/credit card or net banking. The fee will vary based on your category.
• Once the payment is successful, take a printout of the completed application form. This will be useful for future reference, such as during admit card download or result declaration.

UGC NET 2025 Selection Process

The UGC National Eligibility Test is a qualifying exam for candidates willing to apply for Assistant Professor and JRF posts in Government Universities and Institutes. The selection process for the appointment of the NET-qualified candidates to these posts will be decided by the respective institution. However, to qualify for the NET exam candidates must keep in mind the following:

• The candidates from the general category should score 40% in aggregate (in both papers) and the candidates from other categories need to secure at least 35% in aggregate in order to qualify for the post of Assistant Professor & JRF 
• 6% of the total candidates who appeared will be qualified for the post of assistant professor.
• The number of candidates qualified or rejected is decided based on the formula developed by UGC which can be understood by the example given below-

UGC NET 2025 Eligibility 

Before applying for the exam, candidates must fulfil the following UGC NET Eligibility requirements: Thos who do not fulfil these requirements will bedisqualfied.

• To be eligible for the UGC NET, the candidates must have a Master’s degree with an aggregate of 55%.
• Candidates with a 4 year graduation degree with at least 75% aggregate can appear for UGC NET JRF and Ph.D admissions.
• The candidates who appear for the exam should not be above the age of 30 years. However, candidates applying for the Assistant Professor post have no upper age limit restrictions. 

UGC NET 2025 Exam Pattern

UGC NET 2025 City Intimation Slip

UGC NET 2025 Hall Ticket

The UGC NET Call Letter is released 3-5 days before the scheduled exam. Candidates can download their call letters only through the NTA UGC NET website. No hard copies are sent to any candidate. The admit card is an important document without which candidates can not enter the exam hall. It contains the exam date, shift, exam centre, and exam day instructions.

UGC NET 2025 Response Sheet

The UGC NET Response Sheet is released in a few weeks after the exam. It contains the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam. The authorities release a provisional and a final answer key. Candidates can refer to the answer key to compare their responses and estimate their scores in the exam. Candidates can also raise objections to any incorrect responses in the provisional answer key.

UGC NET 2025 Score Card

The UGC NET 2025 Scorecard is released online, a few weeks after the exam. The scorecard contains details about the marks scored by the candidates in paper 1 & 2, and overall exam, along with the qualifying status. The UGC NET Certificate is issued to the qualified candidates in a few weeks after the scorecard is released. The certificate is issued online only. UGC NET 2025 Cut Off

The UGC NET Cut Off Marks are announced on the NTA UGC NET website, in a few weeks after the exam. The cut-off is released subject-wise. Candidates need to score more than the respective category-wise cut-off for the subject they appeared for. Those who score less than the cut-off will be disqualified.
