Quantum Number: It is the set of four numbers that give the complete information about:

  • Position & Energy by means of orbit number or shell
  • Subshell
  • Orientation (Orbital)
  • Spinning (Direction of Rotation)
     

1. Principle Quantum Number (n): It is a positive integer whose value is 1, 2, 3... and It identified the shell or obit number of an electron.

2. Azimuthal Quantum Number (l): It defined the sub-shell or angular momentum of a revolving electron and defined three-dimensional shapes.

  • l = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 ....
