Indexed addressing mode is widely used in accessing data elements of look-up table entries.

Points about Indexed Addressing Mode :

  • Indexed addressing mode is the sequential control flow memory-based addressing mode, which is mainly used to access the Arrays/Table data.
  • In this mode of accessing two parameters are required i.e, Base address and the Index value.
  • In this mode effective address is updated by adding the constant to the content of an Index register i.e,

EA = Address field value + [Ri], where address field value contains the starting address of the array and index register [Ri] contains the position of the array element.
