As per IS 800 : 2007

Clause 7.7.1.4; The effective slenderness ratio (KL/r)e, of battened columns, shall be taken as 1.1 times the (KL/r), the maximum actual slenderness ratio of the column, to account for shear deformation effects.

Clause 7.6.1.5; The effective slenderness ratio, (KL/r)e, of laced columns shall be taken as 1.05 times the (KL/r), the actual maximum slenderness ratio, in order to account for shear deformation effects.
