Magic Tee is called as

• Magic tee is a combination of one H-plane Tee and one E-plane Tee. ∴ It is also called as E-H plane tee.
• The term “magic tee” is derived from the unusual manner in which the power gets divided/combined among various ports.
• A Magic Tee also known as Hybrid Tee can be used as a mixer with E arm port attached to input signal and H arm port attached to local oscillator and one port of collinear arms to matched load.
• A mixed signal with intermediate frequency is obtained at the other collinear port, performing Mixer function between input signal and local oscillator.

• Arm 3 forms an H-plane tee with arms 1 and 2.
• Arm 4 forms an E-plane tee with arms 1 and 2. Arms 1 and 2 are sometimes called the side or collinear arms.
• Port 3 is called the H plane port.
