Download Solution PDFA shopkeeper bought 200 bulbs for Rs 10 each. Out of those, 5 bulbs were fused so he sold the remaining at Rs 12 each. What will be the percentage of gain or loss for shopkeeper?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Cost Price per bulb = ₹10
Total bulbs bought = 200
Fused bulbs = 5 ⇒ Usable bulbs = 200 − 5 = 195
Selling Price per bulb = ₹12
Formula used:
Profit or Loss % = \(\frac{\text{Profit or Loss}}{\text{Cost Price}} × 100 \)
Calculation:
Total Cost Price = 200 × 10 = ₹2000
Total Selling Price = 195 × 12 = ₹2340
Profit = 2340 − 2000 = ₹340
Profit % = \(\frac{340}{2000} × 100 = 17\% \)
∴ The correct answer is 17% profit
