Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFCompare total passes in each exam:
Pass half-yearly = Passed half-yearly (passed both + passed half-yearly but failed annual)
Pass annual = Passed annual (passed both + failed half-yearly but passed annual)
Calculation:
Section A:
Pass half-yearly = 64 + 6 = 70
Pass annual = 64 + 14 = 78
Section B:
Pass half-yearly = 55 + 17 = 72
Pass annual = 55 + 12 = 67
Section C:
Pass half-yearly = 46 + 9 = 55
Pass annual = 46 + 8 = 54
Section D:
Pass half-yearly = 76 + 15 = 91
Pass annual = 76 + 13 = 89
Total passes in half-yearly = 70 + 72 + 55 + 91 = 288
Total passes in annual = 78 + 67 + 54 + 89 = 288
Both exams have the same total number of students passing (288).
∴ Both the exams had almost the same difficulty level.
