Magnifying Power: The magnifying power of a microscope is defined as the ratio of the angles subtended by the image and the object at the eye when both are at the least distance of distinct vision from the eye.

\(\therefore m=\frac{\beta}{\alpha}\)

Also, magnifying power of a microscope is given by 

  • \(m=\frac{-L}{f_o}.\frac{D}{f_e}\)

fo is focal length of objective
fe is focal length of eyepiece.
