Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFEducation is a gradual process that brings positive changes in human life and behaviour.
There are three main types of learning:- Formal learning, informal learning, and Non-formal learning
Informal learning:
- Our Mother tongue is the first language we learn in the family and neighbors as a means of Informal learning, Informal education is that learning which goes on outside of a formal learning (school, a college, or a university)environment. therefore it is learning outside of the classroom/lecture theatre. Informal can be seen as learning that goes on in daily life learning projects that we undertake for ourselves“
- Family is the first institution of education for the child to first learn the language and expected norms of behavior through his experience in the family. These experiences shape the psychological, social, emotional, and moral aspects of his personality. the family is a social system, which provides opportunities for training.
- It covers activities like individual and personal research on a subject or interests for themselves by using books, libraries, informal trainers, the internet, or other resources.
- The objectives of informal education are neither fixed nor formalized. Each family provides experiences to enable the child to learn its customs, traditions, culture, beliefs, attitudes, and values but these differ from one family to another.
- But informal education means also learning things without the learner realizing that he learned them. This can be any kind of information that the learner picked up from the television, radio, conversations with friends and/or family.
- Formal education: Formal education is imparted by an institution or agency specially established for this purpose. Such an institution has its own structure. For example, a school is an agency for formal education. The school has its own structure and organization. It is governed by rules and regulations prescribed by the state.
- Non-formal education: Non-formal education has emerged as an alternative system of education. Due to the limitation of a formal system of education and also because of individuals' requirements and circumstances, a child may not be able to attend school regularly. Therefore, the need for the alternative system of education was felt and non-formal education was organized to provide the facility of education to all the children who are not part of a formal system of education for whatever reason.
Hence, it is concluded that learning one's mother tongue or culture is called informal education.
