Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFExplanation:
Case 1:
For a simply supported beam of length (L) loaded with uniform loading intensity (w):
- Load P is distributed over length l. hence, UDL = w/length
- where P = w × l and length is the same for both the beams (i.e. L = l).
- Maximum shear force is\( F = {w\times L\over 2}={P\over 2} \)
- Maximum bending moment is \(M_{UDL}={w×L^2\over 8}={P\times L\over 8}\)......................(2)
Case 2:
For a simply supported beam of length (L) loaded with Point load P.
- Maximum shear force is \( F ={P\over 2} \)
- The maximum bending moment will develop at the mid-point (M).
- Maximum bending moment is \(M={P× L\over 4}\)........................(1)
From the above both diagrams, in simply supported beam, at the supports, the BM is zero and Shear Force is maximum.
