Concept:

Y (Admittance) Parameters:

They are also called short circuit parameters, as they are calculated under short circuit conditions, i.e. at V= 0 and V= 0.

Expressed in Matrix Form as:

I1 = Y11V1 + Y12V2

I2 = Y21V1 + Y22V2

With the output short-circuited, i.e. V2 = 0, the two parameters obtained are:

With the input short-circuited, i.e. V1 = 0, the two parameters obtained are:

Analysis:

To find out Y11 we will short V2

The Circuit can be redrawn as:

Here 8 Ω will be shorted that is it will be not of any use.

The net equivalent resistance across the circuit will be (2 || 4) = 4/3 Ω

From figure, we have V1 = I1 x 4/3 V 

The required Y11 = 3/4 = 0.75 S
