Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suprised U.S. President Donald Trump with a special gift during their meeting at the Oval Office this week. He presented Trump with a “golden pager,” which seems to have a reference with Israel’s attack on Hezbollah last year, where they used pagers to target members of the Lebanese militant group.
Photos on social media shows the pager placed on a sliced tree trunk with a message that says, “Press with both hands.”

Along with the pager, there is a golden plaque with a message in black letters that says, “To President Donald J. Trump, Our greatest friend and greatest ally. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

He also called Trump Israel’s “greatest friend” and said his “out-of-the-box thinking” will help Israel reach its goal of eliminating Hamas.
According to media reports, Trump stated, “that was a great operation” upon receiving the gift.
On September 17, 2024, Israel launched the attack when pagers across Lebanon started beeping. These devices exploded even if the person didn’t press the buttons to read the encrypted message.
The next day, Israel’s spy agency Mossad set off explosives hidden in walkie-talkies. Some of these exploded during the funerals of nearly 30 people killed in the pager attacks.
By November, the war between Israel and Hezbollah—sparked by Hamas’s large-scale attack on Israel in October 2023—ended with a ceasefire.
Even Trump gave Netanyahu a return gift: a signed photo of the two leaders. He wrote on it, “To Bibi, A great leader!” according to a picture shared on Instagram by Netanyahu’s son, Yair Netanyahu.
On Tuesday, Benjamin Netanyahu became the first foreign leader to visit the Oval Office after Trump returned to the White House last month following his big victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Along with the Gaza war, the two leaders also discussed about ways to counter Iran and the possibility of restarting an Israel-Saudi Arabia peace deal.
At a joint press conference after their private meeting, Trump made a shocking announcement. He said that the U.S. would take control of war-damaged Gaza, which he called a “demolition site,” and rebuild it after relocating the Palestinian population.
Netanyahu praised Trump’s announcement, saying it could “change history” and is “worth exploring.”
He also called Trump Israel’s “greatest friend” and said his “out-of-the-box thinking” will help Israel reach its goal of eliminating Hamas.
