President Donald Trump has made strong remarks over the ongoing tensions and conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He publicly criticized both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. His comments, delivered on his Truth Social platform, came in after the massive Russian aerial assault on Ukraine that destroyed multiple civilian lives.
The X post by Donald Trump came hours after President Zelenskyy posted about the devastating attack involving “nearly 250 drones” and “ missiles.” Trump conveyed his disappointment with Putin’s actions. “I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!”. He added, “I’m not happy with what Putin’s doing.”
Trump further elaborated on Truth Social, asserting that Putin is “needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers.” He reiterated his long-held belief that Putin “wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia.”
However, Trump’s criticism was not solely directed at Moscow. He also admonished Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating, “Likewise, President Zelensky is doing his country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop.” This comment by Trump appears to be a direct response to Zelenskyy’s earlier calls for stronger international pressure on Russia and his criticism of “silence” from allies.
He also slammed former President Joe Biden, saying, “This is Zelenskyy’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not ‘Trump’s,’ I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires that have been started through Gross Incompetence and Hatred.” He also stated that, “This is a War that would never have started if I were President.”
