Guterres is scheduled to hold talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Lviv on Thursday.

They will highlight “the necessity for a political solution to this situation,” said UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric.

Before travelling to Turkey, Guterres will visit the Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Friday, one of the three ports utilised in the agreement to export grain.

The Ukrainian nuclear agency Energoatom reported a significant cyberattack on its website while the diplomatic efforts to end the war continue, but said that its operations had not been affected.

The agency said Tuesday: “The most powerful cyberattack since the start of the Russian invasion occurred against Energoatom’s website,” adding that it “was attacked from Russian territory”.

Russia asserted “sabotage” as the cause of explosions at a military base on the Crimean peninsula, which the Kremlin controls. This occurred on Tuesday.

A power plant, power lines, a railroad track, and residential buildings were reportedly damaged by the explosions brought on by the fire, which caused ammunition to detonate.

The blasts take place a week after similar explosions at a Russian airbase in Crimea resulted in at least one fatality.

Ukraine has not explicitly claimed responsibility for either incident, but senior politicians and the military have suggested that Ukraine was involved.
