New Delhi: A ceasefire has been announced amidst the ongoing clash between Israel and Palestine clash in Gaza. The ceasefire came in effect on late Sunday. The decision was rolled out in a bid to end the violence which has till now claimed lives of dozens of civilians. The clash has also displaced thousands of people in the region.
Last conflict went on for 11 days
This was one of the severe clash that took place in Gaza. The fight here is between the militants of Israel and Gaza. This onslaught is being looked as one of the severe developments ever since a 11-day war was fought last year. The ongoing clashes have owed to the devastating blockades in Gaza.
Ceasefire brokered yet broken?
The ceasefire was formulated by Egypt. It came into effect at around 11.30 pm (local time). However, as soon as the truce was initiated there were rockets sailing across the sky. The strike were ongoing from both the Israeli and the militant sides. Israel warned that it will ‘respond strongly’ if the terms of truce were violated.
The airstrikes were observed as a result of Israeli offensive. The Iran- backed Palestinian group of Jihad militants fired over hundreds of rockets at Israel in response.

Civilian lives lost
The strikes resulted in loss of lives of almost 43 Palestinians, inclusive of 4 women and 15 children. Apart from this around 360 civilians were injured as per the Health Ministry of Palestine. Meanwhile, Israel claimed some of the deaths were a result of misfired rockets.
Yair Lapid observed the operations
Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Gantz were present at the Southern Command’s command and control center. They closely observed the operations taking place in the sector. The commander of the command centre as well as its soldiers briefed the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister.
Yair Lapid convened the meeting of the Forum of Ministry Directors Generals. The meeting focused on coordination and improvement of civilian response to the Operation Breaking Down. The authority chiefs said that recent days have seen frequent communication and tight collaboration with the administration. Additionally, they claimed that this was the first time that government ministries had initiated communication with them.
