Dhirendra Singh Advocates for Compensation

Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh played an important role in advocating for the distribution of compensation for the noise land. He took up this matter with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, meeting him on October 12, 2022, to emphasize the importance of addressing this concern.

The expansive acreage of noise land was acquired to facilitate the construction of the Noida International Airport in Jewar. The farmers had been requesting compensation for this acquisition, and their plea was brought to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s attention. This proposal was subsequently presented in a cabinet meeting, where it received approval.

What is Noise Land?

Noise land is typically located in rural areas and often falls under reserved categories such as Usar Banjar Kallar and Chadh Aadha. Reserved status signifies that the land’s designated use cannot be altered, preventing agricultural or residential leases from being assigned to these lands. These areas usually consist of vast open fields where strong winds create a distinct sound as they pass through. Due to this characteristic, the term “noise land” has been coined. During the implementation of the Zamindari Abolition Act and the Land Settlement Act in Uttar Pradesh, these lands were categorized as reserved. However, the Yogi Adityanath government has now reclassified noise land as unreserved.

Impact on the Jewar Airport Project

The prolonged demand for compensation had repercussions on the construction of the Noida International Airport in Jewar. Farmers had been consistently raising their concerns and engaging in protests. Despite CM Adityanath’s announcement of compensation for noise land, the DM, Yamuna Authority, and Revenue Department were initially hesitant to act.

On May 29, 2023, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh once again wrote to CM Adityanath, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, and the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department, urging a swift resolution to this issue.
