Rs 131 For Dhaniya? Zepto Faces Backlash Over High Prices Netizens Call It ‘Daylight Robbery’

A man was surprised by the very high price of coriander leaves on the grocery delivery app Zepto. In a post on X, Harsh Upadhyay shared a screenshot showing that 100 grams of regular coriander leaves, even after a 22% discount, cost Rs 131.

The convenience of grocery delivery apps has made shopping for essentials easier, eliminating the need to leave home. However, a Gurugram resident’s social media post has caused a sensation online. People Slammed Zepto After This

The caption alongside the video stated, “Coriander 100 grams costs Rs 131 on Zepto.”

Since it went viral, the post has attracted considerable attention online, prompting various reactions from users.

One user joked, “Hahaha. Everything seems to be four times more expensive; someone must be footing the bill.” Another commented, “Now no one will give coriander for free! Coriander demands full respect.”

A person remarked, “And they claim to be bigger than D-mart!”

Another person added, “I don’t care what anyone says, coriander, mint, curry leaves, and green chillies should be free.”

A curious user wondered, “Even after a 20% discount, who would actually order it?”

Meanwhile, someone urged others, “I encourage everyone to buy essentials from local stores. Charging exorbitant prices in the name of convenience is akin to daylight robbery.”

A person noted, “In tier 3 cities, the price difference is only 5 rupees, and in tier 2 cities, it’s 10 rupees.”

Meanwhile, one user observed, “It’s similar to Zomato… you pay more for the convenience of not going out, especially during the monsoon when streets can be risky. Zomato prices are higher than the restaurant menu… am I missing something?”

Sharing a personal anecdote, a commenter recounted, “A few days ago, my mom asked me to order coriander. Blinkit was charging 30 bucks for 100 grams while the market rate is around 10 bucks. On top of that, there was a delivery charge of 30 bucks and a surge charge of 30 bucks because it was peak hours. Plus, a 5-buck handling fee. So, a 10-buck item ended up costing 95 bucks!”

Harsh’s post has been viewed more than 170,000 times to date.
