According to the AAP spokesperson, around 1 lakh people are expected to attend the rally. Demanding the withdrawal of the ordinance, the AAP said the central government should reconsider its stand and give priority to the welfare of the people of Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a tweet, “Tomorrow the people of Delhi will come together at Ramlila Maidan to protest against the dictatorial ordinance of the central government, which has deprived the people of Delhi of their rights. Join this rally. Save the constitution and democracy.”

Metal detectors will be installed at the entry gate to the grounds. Those entering the rally venue will be frisked. According to the traffic advisory, traffic restrictions or diversion will be imposed on Ranjit Singh Flyover from Barakhamba Road to Guru Nanak Chowk, Minto Road to Kamla Market, Vivekananda Marg, JLN Marg (Delhi Gate to Guru Nanak Chowk), Chaman Lal Marg, etc. from 8 a.m.

Days after the Supreme Court’s five-judge bench’s decision to give the elected government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi the power to take decisions regarding services, transfer-posting, and discipline of officers, the central government will bring an ordinance in May.

Arvind Kejriwal met Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Telangana CM KCR, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, and NCP chief Sharad Pawar to garner their support against the Centre’s new ordinance in Delhi. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and CPM leader Sitaram Yechury have met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
