Sharing the video on Twitter, the man wrote: ‘Since everyone forms their own opinion, I want to share the context here – the 16-second video is the first, followed by the second video. I refused to sit with his friend Indica because it had no air conditioning and was dirty. Then I sat in his car, and he spoke to me only in Hindi.’

‘But the moment I asked him to switch on the AC, he started charging. Hear him answer ‘AC Nahi Hai’ in Hindi. It’s not about the language. This is an arrogant and irresponsible person who uses Kannada as a smokescreen for keep going BLR: to cheat credulous people traveling for work,’ he added.

The passenger also shared an image of the cab’s number and mentioned that he had already reported the driver to Uber Support.

With over 139.8k views and counting, the now-viral video has gone viral and received several opinions on the matter. Social media users have created a comment section to share their thoughts. Some called the behavior “horribly wrong,” while others shared similar experiences they encountered in the state.

X-user posted, ‘Couple of such drivers I met in NCR and Bangalore was taught a nice lesson from me. Those drivers will never forget me. It was during my college days. ‘Many other people reacted in different ways and posted comments like – ‘Another added, ‘This is terribly wrong with Kannada. Maybe he is hiding behind linguistic chauvinism to avoid the bad condition of his car.’ ‘I am a Kannadigas; I call his behavior arrogant and that is far from what we Kannadigas are.’
