Users who opt to spend a premium on Apple products often consider the probability of going for a similarly powered Windows product for a cheaper price tag. Windows appliances can often provide the users with the same productivity and efficiency at a much lower price. Considering the tussle that Buyers Go through Apple has made staggering claims about the New MacBook Air with M4 chip.
Performance Claims By Apple
According Apple, the new Macbook Air is 23x faster than that of the Intel based models, However Macbook Rumours have reported about the fine print in the claims being marketed by Apple.
Here’s how Apple has been able to report the 23x faster performance number, Apple compared the 2025 Macbook with 32 Gb of RAM to that of a 2020 Macbook Air with a quad-core Intel Core i7 Processor with only 16 Gb of RAM. Both the models had 2Tb of SSD. So in Brief Apple compared their fastest ever M4 chip Macbook to the fastest ever intel powered Mac they sold. Comparison to a latest windows machine with similar specs would have led to a much more comprehensive result reflective of true performance specs.
Further, the report By Mac Rumours claims that Apple reported the results of the comparison were based on the usage of super resolution on a 4.4 MB image in image editing Apple app Pixelmator Pro. Hence the results were based Mac’s performance on a specific task.
Comparing the performance on specific tasks is a confusing aspect. This leads to issues in ascertaining the real performance apparatus of the machines and making a clear and decisive decision regarding the purchase between a MAC or a Windows appliance.
Here Are The Numbers Claimed By Apple
– Spreadsheet calculation performance in Microsoft Excel is up to 4.7x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air, and up to 1.6x faster than the 13-inch MacBook Air with M1.
– Video editing in iMovie is up to 8x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air, and up to 2x faster than the 13-inch MacBook Air with M1.
– Photo editing in Adobe Photoshop is up to 3.6x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air, and up to 2x faster than the 13-inch MacBook Air with M1.
– Web browsing is up to 60 percent faster when compared to a PC laptop with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, and more demanding tasks get up to 2x faster performance.
As per Mac Rumours, the overall figure of 23x faster performance might be a pushed figure, Although it is true that Macbook Air’s with an M1 chip or newer would be faster than a few intel models or Intel Powered Mac’s. But some of the high-end machines with i7 or i9 with graphic cards might be able to compete with the Macbooks closely. Here are a few devices that we think could be a better choice for you in similar budgets as that of the Macbook listed in the article below.
