Upcoming Apple iPhone 17’s confirmed to be powered by 12 Gb of RAM. As per a recent leak by Digital Chat Station a Chinese leaker who has provided inputs based on supply chain analysis has revealed that iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max would all be equipped with 12Gb of RAM. Beyond the leaker on Digital Chat Station Supply chain analyst Ming – Chi Kuo also confirmed the rumour.
As per Kuo even the base model of the iPhone 17s would be equipped with 12Gb of RAM, The Leak’s further delineated that Apple is still considering its options and would finally decide on whether to give their phone 12 Gb of RAM across the lineup or not by May.
As of yet all iPhone models are equipped with 8GB of RAM, so an upgrade to 12Gb would be a major increase. The increased 12 GB RAM would Enable Apple to equip their phones with capable AI models and improved overall functionality.
New Six Channel Memory For iPhone 18
Beyond the leaks about the RAM increase Digital Chat Station has further revealed that iPhone 18 would use High Performance Six Channel Memory. Apple is planning to equip their 2026 models with a high capacity six channel LPDDR5X memory configuration. This would significantly improve the memory bandwidth for Future Ai features and Multitasking. Such improvements would help the brand equip the phone with faster operational speeds, App switching, Smoother Multitasking and improved Ai capabilities.
The Improved memory would be paired with the A20 pro chip, which would be manufactured using the TSMC third generation 3Nm process; such changes would supposedly be executed with the iPhone 18 series in the future.
Apple Supplier forecast Future Product Shortages
As per U.S. Apple suppliers pegatron, the shelves at Apple showrooms could soon face product scarcity due to the ongoing uncertainty around tariffs administered by the trump administration. Pegatron chairman reported to Reuters that the on and off nature of the tariffs has seriously affected the supply chain and hence this might result into issues in the near future.
The issue arises after the Trump Administration recently paused the Tariffs targeting countries where pegatron has manufacturing bases, these would include countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and India. But A 10% levy still remains in effect to all goods currently being imported to the US.
While Trump has announced exemption, such exemptions could be temporary, since Trump has already announced that there was no exception to tariffs. To be able to continue their operations Apple has been trying to diversify their production routines away from China since Trump’s first term. The company recently ramped up plans to manufacture Apple products in India and would manufacture US bound devices in the country by the end of 2026.
