The current edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event proved to be a thrilling spectacle with five intense matches. All superstars delivered a thrilling performance and produced unforgettable moments. The highlight of the night was the surprise return of Cody Rhodes, who made a surprise assault on John Cena. The main event was just as explosive. Let’s proceed with a close analysis of the entire match results:
Bron Breakker & Seth Rollins vs CM Punk & Sami Zayn
The episode began with a dynamite tag team match. Rollins and Zayn opened the bout, exchanging some hard-hitting action to begin. As the pace of the contest accelerated, all four wrestlers were involved, displaying their athleticism and in-ring ability. Bron Breakker was again impressive with his high-energy offense.
The bout concluded in shocking fashion as Paul Heyman interfered, distracting Sami Zayn as he prepared to deliver the Helluva Kick. From out of nowhere, Bronson Reed returned and sent CM Punk flying. Breakker seized the opportunity and got the pinfall win. Following the match, Reed formally became a part of Rollins and Heyman’s group, and to cap it off, he sent CM Punk crashing with a brutal Tsunami splash.
Chelsea Green vs Zelina Vega (Women’s U.S. Championship)
Zelina Vega retained her Women’s U.S. Championship against Chelsea Green. Green controlled the early stages of the match and almost had it won after delivering a hard-hitting Powerbomb. Vega gradually battled back into the match, though.
Despite Secret Harvest attempting to interfere by distracting the referee, it did not change the outcome. Vega countered and hit a great Code Red off the ropes, pinning Green to win her title successfully.
John Cena vs R-Truth
John Cena had a huge entrance to the ring—only to be greeted by R-Truth, who caricatured Cena’s appearance and theme for laughs. Before the bell had even sounded, Cena knocked Truth out with a clothesline and ripped his shirt in anger.
Truth fought back mid-match, delivering the Five Knuckle Shuffle, followed by an Attitude Adjustment, and even took Cena into the STF. But the climax came as a total shock.
Cena gave his belt to the referee, saying he wouldn’t use it as a weapon. But the minute the referee turned his back, Cena low-blowed Truth and then AA’d him again to steal the victory. He later viciously assaulted Truth with the belt post-match, leaving without any regrets.
Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest (Steel Cage Match)
This highly anticipated Steel Cage match commenced with pandemonium even before the bell tolled, as Drew and Priest fought outside the cage. Inside, they gave an absolute war.
Priest sent Drew crashing with his South of Heaven chokeslam, while McIntyre countered with Claymore Kick. Steel chairs entered into action, turning the match even uglier. Both men gave it their all to gain the victory.
At the last seconds, Priest put a chair under Drew’s head and dropped another chair on top of it, performing a Con-Chair-To. The brutal assault enabled Priest to drop McIntyre and secure the victory. Medical personnel had to attend to Drew afterwards, who seemed to be badly injured.
Jey Uso vs Logan Paul (World Heavyweight Championship)
The crowd gave Jey Uso a hero’s welcome as he entered to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul. From the start, both stars delivered high-impact moves, but Jey soon gained the upper hand.
Uso hit a Frog Splash off the top rope, and just as he attempted to cover Cena interfered, pulling the referee out of the ring. Cena came in and assaulted Jey, creating a stunning twist.
That is when Cody Rhodes returned in dramatic fashion, saving Uso by delivering Cena the Cross Rhodes. Jey took advantage, spearing Logan Paul and covering him to keep the title.
Post-match, Cody confronted Cena and declared that he’s ready to fight again. He challenged Cena to a tag team match at Money in the Bank, marking the beginning of a heated new rivalry.
