Jemimah Rodrigues – Player of the Match

Jemimah Rodrigues became the ‘Player of the Match’ after hitting 76 runs at a crucial time of the innings. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur had contributes 33 runs while other players could get pad their score with small numbers.

“The wicket was tricky, it kept on the lower side, initially it was not turning, but then it turned. But I had prepared well for this, even in Bangalore I asked for slower and turning wickets. That preparation really helped me here,” said Rodrigues after the game.

We have set the tone – India after winning first game

“The bowlers did really well – everyone and this is what we are as a team. This is the confidence we are going to build on. The talk before the tournament was we have set the standard and we want to raise that further,” said Jemimah after winning the first game.

India bowlers shine against Sri Lanka

While defending their total, Indian did a great job as they restrict their rival side at just 109 runs. Only three of their batters could get their score in two digits as India bowlers struck fearlessly. 

Dayalan Hemalatha clinched three wickets while Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar got 2 wickets each. Radha Yadav also got herself a wicket as she dismissed wicketkeeper Anushka Sanjeewani for 5 runs.
