As the Champions Trophy commences on 19 February, New Zealand won the inaugural match by defeating the hosts Pakistan by 60 runs. Today India will take on Bangladesh in the Dubai International Stadium, UAE. Spectators have many expectations from skipper Rohit Sharma especially after he hit a century against England in the ODI series hosted by India just before the Champions Trophy. He has the highest strike rate among the top batters of other participating teams including Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam and India’s Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has been featured in 49 innings in the ICC ODI tournaments in which he has displayed his batting prowess by scoring 2324 runs with an average of 47.4 and a strike rate of 89. He also beat the record for the most number of ODI centuries during the 2023 World Cup against New Zealand. The record was previously held by India’s great Sachin Tendulkar. He scored his 50th century during the same match outshining the Master Blaster.
Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is leading India’s charge along with young gun Shubman Gill as his Vice Captain. Rohit has been featured in less ODI innings as compared to his fellow teammate Virat Kohli. While Kohli appeared in 49 ICC ODI innings Rohit managed to get featured in 38 innings. His runs are also less than Virat. He scored 2056 runs but maintaining a very impressive average of 54.1 and a strike rate of 99.

Babar Azam
After losing to New Zealand in both the tri series as well as the tournament opener for the Champions Trophy 2025. Babar scored 64 runs in 90 deliveries with a strike rate of just over 71. This has questioned his display of shifting gears across different formats. In 23 ICC ODI innings he scored 991 runs with an average of 43 and a strike rate of 82.9.
