Chandimal Enters The Hall Of Fame

Chandimal itched a terrific record and entered into the list of Sri Lankan batters with the most Test centuries. He is on level terms with notable players Angelo Mathews and Dimuth Karunaratne, and Marvan Atapattu and Tillakaratne Dilshan, each of whom has also notched 16 centuries. The list is led by Kumar Sangakkara, an impressive 38 centuries ahead, followed by Mahela Jayawardene with 34 centuries.

Tied With Sanath Jayasuriya

When Chandimal got to his fifty, he became the second Sri Lankan batter after the legendary Sanath Jayasuriya to score 45 fifty-plus scores in Tests. Kumar Sangakkara is atop the list with 90, and Jayawardene is next with 84.

A Heartfelt Dedication

It was his wife, whom he kept all three cheers for, and Chandimal certainly dedicated his brilliant century to his wife. He waved his bat towards the pavilion, where she was sitting, pointing in her direction.
