TLP Supporter Storms Into Rawalpindi Pitch
Rachin Ravindra’s brilliant stroke-play thrilled the Rawalpindi crowd, but he was briefly stunned when an intruder grabbed him from behind after entering the playing area. According to AP, the intruder was a supporter of Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP), an Islamist party banned by the government in 2021.
The intruder hugged Rachin Ravindra and waved a picture of TLP leader Saad Rizvi before security personnel swiftly apprehended him and escorted him out of the stadium.
This incident shocked many, especially amid reports of potential terrorist threats in Pakistan during the Champions Trophy. Although the guards quickly addressed the situation, the invasion raised serious concerns about security in Rawalpindi.
