SA vs SL 1st Test: Marco Jansen’s Seven-Fer Plunders Lankans To Lowest Ever Test Score

South Africa pacer Marco Jansen picked up a seven-wicket haul during the SA vs SL 1st Test in Durban and wrapped up Sri Lanka for their lowest-ever Test score.

Sri Lanka registered a new low during the SA vs SL 1st Test being played at the Kingsmead, Durban. Sri Lanka were blown away by the Proteas for a score of 42 runs, which was their lowest team total in Test cricket. South African pacer Marco Jansen picked up a seven-wicket haul during the SA vs SL 1st Test which proved out to be a nightmare for the Sri Lankan team. Jansen recorded his best figures in Test cricket and also the second best during a South Africa vs Sri Lanka Test match.

Marco Jansen Destroy Sri Lanka In Durban

The damage of the Sri Lankan team started from the top when they were reduced to 16/4 after 7.1 overs. Sri Lankan batters Pathum Nissanka (3), Dimuth Karunaratne (2), Dinesh Chandimal (0) and Angelo Matthews (1) were dismissed cheaply. Marco Jansen picked the first three wickets out of four whereas one wicket went to Kagiso Rabada. Kamindu Mendis tried to score some runs but got dismissed for 13 runs. Soon after his departure, Marco Jansen didn’t take much time in wrapping up the Sri Lankan team and in the end, the visitors ended up getting bowled out for 42 runs. Jansen ended the innings with figures of 7/13 in 6.5 overs whereas Gerald Coetzee and Kagiso Rabada picked up two and one wicket respectively.

Earlier, South Africa were bowled out for 191 runs in their first innings courtesy of a decent bowling performance from the Sri Lankan team. Temba Bavuma played an innings of 70 runs 117 balls which included nine fours and one six. Sri Lankan bowlers Asitha Fernando and Lahiru Kumara picked up three wickets apiece whereas Vishwa Fernando and Prabath Jayasuriya picked up two wickets respectively.
