Rohit Sharma Equals Sachin Tendulkar’s Record Following Loss In Melbourne Test

Indian captain Rohit Sharma levelled Sachin Tendulkar's record following India's loss in the Melbourne Test against Australia by 184 runs.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has faced a lot of criticism due to many captaincy decisions he has taken in the past few months. Under Rohit’s leadership, the Indian team suffered a 3-0 white-wash against Bangladesh last month whereas ever since he has taken over captaincy in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, the Indian team has lost two out of three games. Rohit hasn’t been able to score runs with the bat as well due to which rumours about his retirement have taken up.

Rohit Sharma Levels Sachin Tendulkar’s Record

Rohit Sharma also equaled all-time unwanted Sachin Tendulkar record post Team India’s loss in the Melbourne Test by 184 runs. In the past six Tests in Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, the Indian team hasn’t been able to win a single match and one match in Brisbane ended up in a draw. The opening match of BGT 2024-25 was won under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah. Following, such underwhelming performances, Rohit Sharma also equaled the record for most losses by an Indian captain. Rohit levelled Sachin Tendulkar’s record who had five losses to his name during the 1999-00 season.

The Indian team has been among the top performing Test teams from a long time. Team India setup a different level under the leadership of Virat Kohli and won a Test series in Australia back in 2018-19. Also, Virat lit up the Indian bowling lineup performance. However, in the present time, Rohit Sharma has been totally clueless in bringing out the best from his bowlers and with just one match to play in the series, Indian team will want to level the series.
