The India national cricket team registered an emphatic win at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The Indian team defied all the odds and defeated the Australian team by a margin of 295 runs. The Jasprit Bumrah led side was under immense pressure when they came out to play the IND vs AUS 1st Test. Team India were coming into the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after losing to New Zealand at home by 3-0 whereas they got wrapped up for a mere score of 150 runs in the first innings of the Perth Test. However, Indian skipper Bumrah had different plans when he anchored the Indian bowling attack and played a major role in wrapping up the hosts for 104 runs in their first innings and achieving an important first innings lead.

The Indian team later showcased a brilliant batting performance in the second innings wherein they ended up scoring 487/6 d in the second innings courtesy of brilliant hundreds from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli. KL Rahul also played an anchor role with a brilliant knock of 77 runs. Later, chasing down mighty 534 runs, the Aussies were 12/3 at one stage and later reduced to 79/5. Later, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh showcased some grace, but the target was big enough for the hosts and they ended up losing the match.

Ricky Ponting Makes Big Statement On IND vs AUS 1st Test
Former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting admitted that he didn’t think that Team India would emerge victorious in Perth. He added that while going deep into the Test match he also stated that the Indian team are a better team away rather than playing at home. Speaking to Star Sports, Ricky Ponting said, “So, you’ve got to give them credit. I must admit, I didn’t think that they could win the first test, India, going there in Perth with conditions that are so foreign to them. But I also made a point going into the test match that I actually think India are a better team away from home now than they are at home. I think they play foreign wickets and conditions better than they play their own conditions now. And I think that’s been proven over the last week in Perth.”
The India national cricket team will look forward on continuing their winning momentum during the IND vs AUS 2024-25 Test series. Team India play against Australia in the second Test from December 6 at the Adelaide Oval and will surely have an upper hand when they walk into the field.
