In less than 24 hours, India and England will take on each other in the second match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, formerly known as the Pataudio Trophy, at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The Visitors, after losing by a convincing margin of 5 wickets in the first Test match at Leeds, will now aim to clinch the victory in the upcoming match. The Shubman Gill-led team is aiming to make some major changes as suggested by India’s assistant coach, including 2 spinners for the second Test.
Prasidh Krishna might be dropped and Washington Sundar may replace him for the second Test as the latter could provide a good hand with the bat as well. Ravindra Jadeja’s Test Performance Against England
With the bat, Jadeja has scored 1,031 runs against England, with an average of 33.25. He has scored two centuries and six half-centuries, his best being 112. Surprisingly enough, England is the only team against whom he has scored more than 1,000 runs in Tests.
Jadeja has also appeared in 10 Test matches in England. Bowling in England has been tougher for him, as he has taken 22 wickets at a higher average of 46.13, and he has not yet picked a five-wicket haul in the nation. His best in England is 4/79. But he has fared reasonably well with the bat as well, making 563 runs at an average of 31.27, including a century. His finest moment on the ground was one of the most memorable performances at Lord’s in 2014 when his 68-run innings contributed to India’s first victory in 28 years at the iconic venue.
Kuldeep Yadav’s Test Performance Against England
Kuldeep has played six Test matches against England and has done well, taking 21 wickets at an average of 22.28. His best against England was during the 2024 Dharamsala Test, which was also his latest match against England. Against them in that match, he took 5 for 72 in one and 2 for 40 in the other, and India won by an innings and 64 runs.
Washington Sundar’s Test Stats
Although Washington Sundar has appeared in 9 Test matches and bowled in 16 innings. He has bowled a total of 1,173 balls and conceded 641 runs. Out of this, he has taken 25 wickets with an average of 25.64 runs per wicket. His best figures in one innings are 7 wickets for 59 runs, and his best match figures are 11 wickets for 115 runs. These figures indicate that Sundar has been a handy bowler in the Test form.
