‘Rare Visual’: Rajeev Shukla Slams Cricket Australia For Not Inviting Sunil Gavaskar For Presenting BGT Trophy Along With Allan Border

BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla criticised Cricket Australia's act of not inviting Sunil Gavaskar to present the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia.

Team India had a disappointing result in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as they ended up losing the series by a margin of 1-3. The Indian team was outplayed by the Australian pace attack and the batting lineup turned out to be a completed flop. Top Indian names including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill couldn’t display any pleasing batting performances and played underwhelming cricket throughout the series. Australia won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time after 10 years. While, Australia won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is named after legendary cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border, it was presented to them by only Border and Gavaskar wasn’t even invited to present the trophy.

The post read, “I fully agree with Neil. It happened when Gavaskar was present in the stadium. Trophy is in their names and one of them was not invited to podium. After four years who knows whether both will be present at the stadium? Both together would have been a rare visual.”

Team India was also knocked out of the World Test Championship final contention and now it will be played between South Africa and Australia.
