PSL 2025: Australian veteran cricketer David Warner is set to make his long-awaited debut in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he will captain the Karachi Kings against Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans in the 2025 season.
Warner, arguably the most explosive T20 batter, could not play earlier PSL seasons because of a congested international calendar. But with his recent international retirement, the stage is now set for him to enter the T20 league in full force.
The Karachi Kings acquired Warner’s services and also awarded him the captaincy for the next season. In his first press conference as skipper, Warner was bombarded with an unexpected question. A journalist asked him about the trolling he allegedly received from Indian fans for signing up with the PSL after remaining unsold in the IPL auction.

Warner, unruffled, terminated the discussion with a calm and honest answer. “This is the first I’ve heard of it,” he replied. “From where I stand, I want to play cricket. There’s a chance to come to the PSL now. My international duties never overlapped with the PSL calendar earlier. Now, I get the opportunity to play, be the captain of the Karachi Kings, and hopefully lift the trophy.”
Warner, a former player for the Delhi Capitals, was let go by the franchise before IPL 2025 auction. His presence in PSL 2025 has given the tournament a star lift, and everyone is waiting to see how he plays in his new captaincy role.
