Pakistan Cricket Board Facing New Issues Ahead Of Champions Trophy 2025 As Construction Works Delays In Karachi

The Pakistan Cricket Board are facing a new challenge as the renovation work at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi hasn't yet finished.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 schedule has been released and is all set to be co-hosted by Pakistan and Dubai. The Indian team will be playing all its group matches at the Dubai International Stadium whereas Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi are among the venues that will host Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan. Renovation work in all these stadiums are going on in full swing, however, the National Stadium in Karachi have increased PCB’s tensions. The opening match of the tournament will be played at the venue from February 19 but the renovation work at the Stadium is yet to be finished.

PCB Face New Tension In Karachi Ahead Of Champions Trophy 2025

To boost the renovation works at the National Stadium, the Pakistan Cricket Board have also shifted the domestic games scheduled to take place in Karachi. The final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy began at the United Bank Limited Sports Complex but was earlier set to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi. A PCB source told PTI, “Due to the ongoing construction and renovation work it was decided against holding any matches at the NSK as it would only further delay the work and also disturb the players.”

Karachi was also set to host the Pakistan vs West Indies first Test from January 16 but it will now be played in Multan whereas the second match will also be played. Some of the construction work was done on time but now the PCB have asked the construction workers to push the work schedule. The Pakistan Cricket Board have spent around USD 12 billion on the renovation works of Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi Stadiums in order to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The renovation works included construction of new buildings, new dressing rooms, media houses and board offices.
