Ruben Amorim talked about how they played with the contrasting mentalities by stating “I think we faced this game, second half and first half, with a different mentality. That is the difference. We can talk about the system, the technical [side], we are short, we are tall but the mentality sometimes is everything. And you can feel it. At the end of the game, I looked at the pitch and the guys were really tired and, sometimes, I have to explain to my players that we have to finish games like that. So I think it was a good day in that aspect. I think we could have won.” Amorim also expressed satisfaction with how United managed the match. He said “I think we controlled the game very well. Every time Liverpool had a chance, we controlled. We had the ball for some moments and that makes the difference. You can see during the game it was not like we were suffering all the time because we control the ball, sometimes winning fouls, controlling the transitions. So I think it was a good game.”

He praised Diogo Dalot for his intelligence and speed, commending his ability to adapt and perform. He also defended Harry Maguire, stating “He will do that [focus on his overall display]. He will focus because, for me, missing chances or playing bad with the ball, for me, is not the big issue. For me, the big issue is that Harry gives everything on the pitch and that is the most important thing.”
